The VAUDE Ecosystem

VAUDE is dedicated to making y(our) world a better place – holistically and systematically. We rely on our VAUDE Ecosystem - a holistic environmental management system.

Sustainability throughout the product life cycle

Sustainability is complex. It is more than the sum of individual measures. The VAUDE Ecosystem is our holistic sustainability strategy. It is based on our mission and our corporate values. It shows how we perceive our social and environmental responsibilities.

We take on responsibility for:

  • Green Materials & Technologies: for example, we already have 78 percent Green Shape in the clothing collection - see “Green Shape Concept”.
  • Clean production by using the strictest ecological textile standard bluesign® - see "Bluesign standard".
  • Environmentally friendly use & maintenance with detailed care information on the product, extensive training for retailers, and sales of environmentally friendly alternative Nikwax - see “Customer responsibility".
  • Product end of life: cooperation with FairWertung and our measures for extending product life (rather than disposal) with our 10 member repair department - see “Disposal”.
  • Renewable energy: based on 100 percent renewable electricity and biogas. We also produce approximately 550,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year - see "Energy".
  • Business and Biodiversity: active implementation at the site - see “Biodiversity”.
  • Ecologically responsible work in all departments of Green IT, the exclusive use of recycled paper, construction in accordance with DGNB, substitution of print for digital solutions, environmental tradeshow and store solutions, and our organically certified café - see "Our membership".
  • Work with partners & ecological networks, particularly close cooperation with WWF and the DAV as our direct contact to outdoor related consumer and agents of sustainable use of nature - see "Our membership".
  • Fair working conditions by the strictest social standards in the textile industry and very progressive work-life balance measures at the site - see "Vaude as employer".
  • Social responsibility at a local level: as leaseholder of the local outdoor swimming pool facilities, as operator of the VAUDE childcare center and as the initiator of the local public transportation system - see "Indirect economic performance".
  • Economic sustainability: we are a mid-sized family-owned company without non-family shareholders with high investment returns - see "Economic performance".

The entire VAUDE ecosystem is integrated into VAUDE environmental management. It is certified annually by an independent auditor in accordance with EMAS and ISO14001 - see "Enviromental management system".
