VAUDE uses a very high percentage of bluesign® system certified materials in every collection. The advantage: clean materials, processed with the efficient use of resources.
The use of energy, water and raw materials throughout the entire supply chain is monitored and optimized on an ongoing basis. Only pre-approved chemicals are permitted. This reduces emissions, waste and wastewater that harm the environment.
As a result, you get a high performance VAUDE product made using environmentally friendly manufacturing processes.
VAUDE has been working together with the bluesign® system since 2001. We have fully integrated the standard into the VAUDE Green Shape criteria.

When a product meets the standards of the bluesign® system, it is also considered a VAUDE Green Shape product. With one exception: water repellent materials with a fluorocarbon finish – while the bluesign® system still allows its use (C6 technology), Green Shape products are required to be 100 % PFC-free. The proportion of bluesign certified fabrics in the Apparel Collection is decreasing because we have also opened ourselves up to other strict third-party certification within the Green Shape 2.0 concept. Read more in our Green Shape Concept. After its introduction in W15, this became clearly evident. For Green Shape 2.0, for example, we also permit fabrics that are manufactured in an ISO 14001-certified production facility and that are also Oekotex 100 certified.
The bluesign® system is an “Input Stream Management”. Only “clean”, certified components can be used. This results in clean, safe and environmentally friendly products.
The bluesign® system guarantees that no Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) identified by the European REACH regulations (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) are to be found in the products. The limits for chemical substances are often lower in the bluesign® system than legal limits.
The bluesign® system tackles the problem at its source. Instead of analyzing finished products for chemical substances, the bluesign® system monitors the upstream supply chain of all components used (fabrics, yarns, chemical finishes such as dyes, etc.).
All input and output streams are examined. Only materials that meet the strict bluesign® system criteria make their way into the production cycle.
Our key supplier VAUDE Vietnam, for example, is bluesign® system audited and ISO 14001 certified.
The strict limits of the bluesign® system help to protect consumers, lower the burden on the environment and conserve resources. Within the bluesign® system over 9000 restricted or prohibited chemical substances are monitored.
VAUDE has taken on these substances and their limits in its own Manufacturing Restricted Substance List (MRSL). In our VAUDE Greenpeace Detox Commitment we are at times even stricter than the bluesign® system.
