Offset emissions

We keep records on total weight and distances for our inbound and outbound deliveries. myclimate calculates the amount of emissions generated.

Transportation is necessary, primarily for merchandise logistics

Upstream transportation primarily involves the delivery of goods produced on behalf of VAUDE to our warehouse in Tettnang-Obereisenbach - see "Climate Neutral Transport".

It also involves the delivery of all consumables needed at our Tettnang Obereisenbach location for bag production and the remaining divisions: materials, buckles, packaging materials, building materials for the workshop, paper, furniture, coffee, etc.

myclimate calculates emissions

While we collect figures on weight and distance per transport for all upstream (inbound) deliveries, we have myclimate calculate the emissions that this generates so that we can compensate for them - see "Greenhouse gas emissions in detail". We do not currently calculate energy consumption for our transport figures.

According to information provided by our logistics service providers, a total of 6,967 tons of VAUDE products and other goods were delivered to our Tettnang-Obereisenbach location in 2013.

VAUDE also handles all product logistics for our affiliated brand Edelrid at our Tettnang-Obereisenbach location. Because the actual weight of Edelrid products is not summarized separately, we have assumed an Edelrid share of 15 percent for the determination of this value.

15 million kilometers of upstream transport

Overall, upstream transport was responsible for about 15 million km in 2013. These figures include all shipments from our producers via our off-premises warehouse in Weissenau/Baindt to our warehouse in Tettnang-Obereisenbach. Transport that occurs even earlier in the supply chain (such as materials from their manufacturers to our producers) is not included. VAUDE has no influence over this transport.

Shipping to retailers

Downstream transport involves the shipping of all VAUDE products to our customers, the retailers.

We also collect all figures for the weight and distance per transport for these deliveries and have myclimate calculate emissions - see "Greenhouse gas emissions in the details" Link auf 4-Emissionen-in-Zahlen. We do not currently calculate energy consumption for our transport figures.

4,071 tons of VAUDE products delivered

According to information provided by our logistics services, a total of 4,071 tons of VAUDE products were delivered from our Tettnang-Obereisenbach location in 2013. VAUDE also handles all product logistics for our affiliated brand Edelrid at our Tettnang-Obereisenbach location, but because the actual weight of Edelrid products is not summarized separately, we have assumed an Edelrid share of 25 percent for the determination of this value.

Overall, downstream transportation was responsible for covering over 86 million km in 2013.
