FormCushion Frog recall for child carriers

During a routine inspection in 2020, we discovered an unusual level of harmful substances in a material used to make a cushion accessory (Cushion Frog) for our Shuttle Premium child carrier.

We carried out a voluntary recall in coordination with authorities. The recalled products were discarded and safe replacements were produced.

We discovered that a material had been used that contained elevated levels of harmful substances (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons PAH).

According to the Federal Office for Risk Assessment, many PAHs have carcinogenic, mutagenic and/or reprotoxic properties.

When used as intended and as expected, direct contact between the child’s skin and the back of the cushion would have been unlikely. The person carrying the child would also come into contact with this part of the cushion only occasionally and briefly, such as when removing the cushion to wash it. Nevertheless, we decided to voluntarily recall this product.

Since that point, we have initiated far-reaching measures and the case has been assessed as closed by the Regional Administrative Authority Stuttgart.
