VAUDE manufactures a very high proportion of bluesign® system certified materials in every collection. Your advantage: clean materials with resource conserving processing.
All energy, water, raw materials consumption in the entire supply chain is monitored and optimized on an ongoing basis. Only chemicals that have been pre-approved are allowed. This reduces the production of emissions, waste and wastewater that harm our environment.
As a result, you get a high performance VAUDE product made from environmentally friendly manufacturing.
VAUDE has been working together with the bluesign® standard since 2001. We have fully integrated the standard into the VAUDE Green Shape criteria.
When a product meets the bluesign® system, it counts as a VAUDE Green Shape product. With one exception: water repellent materials with a fluorocarbon finish – while the bluesign® system still allows their use (C6 technologies), Green Shape products have to be completely PFC-free. Read more here
The bluesign® system is an “Input Stream Management”: Only “clean” certified components are used. The results are clean, safe and environmentally friendly products.
The bluesign® system guarantees that no Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) identified by the European REACH regulations (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) are to be found in the products.
The limits for chemical substances are often lower in the bluesign® system than legal limits.
The bluesign® system tackles the problem at its source. Instead of analyzing finished products for chemical substances, the bluesign® system monitors the upstream supply chain of all components used (fabrics, thread, chemical finishes such as dyes, etc.).
All input and output streams are examined. Only materials that meet the strict bluesign® system criteria make their way into the production cycle.
VAUDE Tettnang-Obereisenbach and our important supplier VAUDE Vietnam are bluesign® system audited and ISO 14001 certified.
The strict limits in the bluesign® system help to protect consumers, lower the burden on the environment and conserve resources. Within the bluesign® system over 900 limited or forbidden chemical substances are monitored.
VAUDE has taken on these substances and their limits in its own Manufacturing Restricted Substance List (MRSL). In our "VAUDE Greenpeace Detox Commitment" we are at times even stricter than the bluesign® system.
