Ever thought of using gear without needing to buy it, store it and take care of it? Using the sharing economy to share products with others while protecting the environment?
With iRentit by VAUDE, we’re making it possible. As of May 2017 customers have been able to rent quality outdoor gear at the VAUDE Store Ravensburg and VAUDE Store Konstanz as well as at the VAUDE factory outlet at our company headquarters in Obereisenbach near Tettnang.
The idea of renting gear is still new for the outdoor industry in Germany. And for us as well. That's why we’re initially testing the concept at three locations. Later in 2017, we will expand the offer gradually to all VAUDE Stores. At a later stage, interested dealers can also participate. We plan to expand abroad and online as well.
You can rent gear directly at our rental stations in VAUDE Stores and at our factory outlet.
After you’ve used the gear, just bring it back and the professionals and our Repair Service will ensure it’s ready to go for the next person who wants to rent it.
Our current iRentit locations:
The sharing economy is part of a global, societal megatrend. Numerous studies (such as by Havas Worldwide) show that ownership is losing importance while more and more people are recognizing the advantages of targeted, on-demand use – without having to purchase products themselves.
The reasons are obvious – you often only need bulky gear a few times; it requires storage space, which is often at a premium, especially in urban studio apartments. Another advantage is that you can try new outdoor sports without having to buy all the gear for it.
»We not only want to develop sustainable products, we’re also looking at new sustainable business models. So we’re offering iRentit by VAUDE – an opportunity to rent a variety of gear such as bike bags, backpacks, tents, sleeping pads or travel bags at a low cost, to enjoy its functionality and then give it back so the next person can experience their next adventure with it.«
By renting out high quality VAUDE gear in our stores, we want to prevent gear from lying around in storage and make it available to multiple users. The program will help us conserve resources that are used for production and wastes when the product is only minimally used. Our rental concept iRentit by VAUDE is another component in our sustainable business strategy.
