Making apparel from trees

Eucalyptus and beech wood from sustainable forestry are used to make fabric for your outdoor apparel.

Simply wood – simply good.

We use Tencel® for many VAUDE products, a fiber that is made from 100% sustainable wood and that is 100% biodegradable.

 
Tencel® offers moisture management properties, is soft against the skin and ensures a cool microclimate. Manufactured from cellulose, the fabric features exceptional environmentally friendliness thanks to its resource-conserving, closed production cycle. Wood you wear it?


Tencel®: silky smooth, breathable and environmentally friendly

The raw material for Tencel® fiber is cellulose from either eucalyptus or beech trees. These are both natural fibers that are obtained from sustainably managed wood growth.


Sustainable forestry conserves natural resources. Eucalyptus and beech trees do not require fertilization or irrigation

Naturally inhibited bacterial growth

Tencel® fibers are used to make fabrics with a silky smooth surface. In outdoor apparel, this material transports moisture quickly and effectively away from the body, resulting in high wearing comfort.

Apparel produced with Tencel® does not require additional anti-odor chemicals to ensure the product’s high functionality, as bacteria growth is inhibited by the material itself so that odor build-up doesn’t occur.

Sustainable production cycle

Tencel® is produced in a closed production cycle in which emissions are reduced to a minimum. Solvents and water are recovered completely and reused in the process.
