In the RDS, each step of the supply chain - hatcheries, farms, slaughterhouses, down processing plants and production facilities for finished down products - is audited and certified to ensure that no live plucking or forced feeding takes place and that the well being of the animal throughout the entire process is guaranteed.

Responsible Down Standard (RDS)
It is currently the most complete global independently certified down standard; the animal rights organization Four Paws was involved in its development. |
The RDS is owned and maintained by the independent nonprofit organization Textile Exchange, which continuously monitors the entire down-supply chain in cooperation with an accredited testing institute.
It ensures that the down and feathers used in VAUDE products come exclusively as a by-product of the food industry from humanely treated animals. Practices such as live plucking and forced feeding for foie gras are expressly excluded.
VAUDE procures its down from the US supplier Allied Feather & Down and from Kwon Lung Enterprise Co. Ltd. in Taiwan. These are both bluesign® system partners, which also ensure low-emissions and resource- conserving down processing.
