100 percent renewable energy

We use electricity from renewable resources exclusively – and as sparingly as possible.

Saving energy, wherever possible

In 2014, VAUDE consumed 652,286 kWh of electrical power at its company headquarters in Tettnang- Obereisenbach. Since mid-2009, we use only electricity generated from renewable resources. We obtain our electricity from the green electricity provider Lichtblick. The percent of renewable energy in electricity consumption is therefore 100 Percent.

Decreasing power consumption despite increasing employee levels

Based on the base year of 2008, power consumption per employee fell by 17 percent in 2014. This is particularly encouraging, as the number of annual employees increased by 45% between 2008 and 2014. This means we have reached a significantly below-average increase in electricity consumption relative to our number of employees

Seven percent less electricity for bag production

If you take into account the power consumption at the company headquarters in Tettnang-Obereisenbach (without factory sales) based on the amount of products made, there is a reduction of seven percent from the previous year.

Here, energy management measures, such as the optimization of a pump control on a product machine and more efficient lighting, have taken effect.

Due to the technical requirements, we are currently unable to measure the separate power consumption of our manufacturing, since an administration building and the electricity consumption for the remodeling run over the same counter as the production. From 2015 onward, we will be able to measure the manufacturing power consumption separately.

Energy savings in offices

There are even ways to reduce power consumption in our offices. To ensure that power-saving devices are used, there is a VAUDE Directive for the purchase of office supplies: office equipment should either bear the Blue Angel or the EU Eco label (Euro-Blume). The Energy Star is our minimum requirement. Energy savings tips about potential energy savings through the behavior of each individual employee are presented in the intranet.
