A private company kindergarten in rural southern Germany - that's something special today. VAUDE is located in the idyllic village of Obereisenbach. There are many meadows and plenty of fresh air, but very little infrastructure - and very limited child care facilities.
When Antje von Dewitz started at VAUDE, her first child was on the way and she herself was enthusiastic about the idea of bringing career and family under one roof. Read more about it at „Family and Career“.
„Of course, it occurred to me right away that we had to take action for ourselves here at VAUDE,” said the current CEO. She dusted off her father’s 1980 plans for the creation of an on-site childcare center and went to work.
The VAUDE Kinderhaus childcare center was created in cooperation with the city of Tettnang. VAUDE provided the facilities and took on the majority of the investments. The city of Tettnang covers 60 percent of the operating costs for personnel, electricity, heat, etc. VAUDE finances the rest – see also „Create added value through commitment“.
In good hands
Children are in good hands at the VAUDE Kinderhaus– a small contribution to balancing career and family. |
Our commitment to family-friendly company management has been honored on multiple occasions. In 2013 VAUDE won the „Familienbewusstes Unternehmen” (family-friendly company) award from the Baden-Württemberg Finance and Economics Minister in collaboration with employers’ organizations.
Since that time, the VAUDE child care center has become firmly established – the center’s waiting list is long. 31 children between the ages of 6 months and 10 years are cared for in a nursery and in mixed-age groups that include after school supervision.
By the way: The birthrate at VAUDE has tripled since the opening of the Kinderhaus Child Care Center and is now almost four times the German national average!
