Upstream transportation primarily involves the delivery of goods produced on behalf of VAUDE to our warehouse in Tettnang-Obereisenbach - see "Climate Neutral Transport".
It also involves the delivery of all consumables needed at our Tettnang Obereisenbach location for bag production and the remaining divisions: materials, buckles, packaging materials, building materials for the workshop, paper, furniture, coffee, etc.
While we collect figures on weight and distance per transport for all upstream (inbound) deliveries, we have myclimate calculate the emissions that this generates so that we can compensate for them - see "Greenhouse gas emissions in detail". We cannot, however, currently use this information to calculate energy consumption for our transport figures.
According to information provided by our logistics service providers, a total of 4,851 tons of VAUDE products and other goods were delivered to our Tettnang-Obereisenbach location in 2014.
Downstream transport involves the shipping of all VAUDE products to our customers, the retailers.
We also collect all figures for the weight and distance per transport for these deliveries and have myclimate calculate emissions - see "Greenhouse gas emissions in detail". We do not currently calculate energy consumption for our transport figures.
According to information provided by our logistics services, a total of 2612 tons of VAUDE products were delivered from our Tettnang-Obereisenbach location in 2014.
The large difference between inbound and outbound merchandise arises regularly due to the existance of seasonal deliveries to our customers. The Autumn / Winter collection is delivered to VAUDE during the “old” calendar year as stock, but is shipped out to retailers in the Spring of the “new” calendar year.
